Swiss Re Corporate Solutions China Marine Workshop

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions China organised a Marine Workshop on the 14th April 2016 in Shanghai. Over 30 brokers and agencies participated the event. Patrizia Kern, Marine Global Head and Peter Schraa, Head Marine Cargo APAC were the keynote speakers for the event.

As Chairman of Figure and Fact of IUMI, Patrizia shared with the attendees the latest developments in the macroeconomic landscape and the impact that the economic slowdown in China is having on the shipping industry and marine insurance globally.

Building on our increased focus on Chinese Interest Overseas, and the growing number of investments supporting the One Belt One Road initiative, launched by the Chinese government, Peter shed light (provided a detailed session) on Project Cargo and Delay in start-up insurance. The presentation focused on the key principles of project cargo insurance, risk assessment methodology and the challenges that the insured and the insurers encounter.

The participants represented over 20 brokers and agencies from across China. The information shared during the two presentations stirred the interest of the attendees and triggered a dynamic Q&A session with the presenters.

The event was followed with networking drinks, where participants interacted with various members of the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions China team including colleagues from the Claims, Sales and Underwriting teams.

Overall, participants enjoyed a very productive afternoon that further raises the profile of our entity in China and underlines our strengths and capabilities in marine insurance.
